Tom Jurich Exerts More Control Over Media in Louisville

by:Matt Jones10/20/10
meiners Just when you thought UL and the Jurich regime couldnt get anymore bizarre, they come at you with something else. The latest news comes from a source that Louisville as of now will not make Rick Pitino available for his own coach's show on WHAS. The source says that due to the tv station's coverage of the Sypher trial, UL does not plan to make Pitino available and the show will simply be a clip and highlight show with no Pitino. Also, Terry Meiners has been replaced as a member of both the coach's show and as a sideline reporter for the games, also due to the criticism. This morning I spoke with Meiners and while he gave no reason for the decision, he confirmed that he will no longer be a part of the coach's show or the sideline reporting for UL home games. For many Meiners has been the face of UL basketball and now, thanks to a summer of Sypher trial coverage, he will no longer be part of it. With Meiners no longer part of it, Drew Deener will replace Terry on the coach's show and after the replacement, it is thought that UL might once again allow Pitino on the show. Two petty decisions by Tom Jurich...neither of which is surprising.
