Tony Bennett Offered Indiana Job

by:Matt Jones03/29/08
rewrewagfdgah In a move that likely upsets those that want to see Bruce Pearl away from Tennessee, Indiana has offered its job to Tony Bennett of Washington State according to FOXSPORTS' JEFF GOODMAN. Bennett, who just had his salary doubled by the Cougars, now must decide if it is worth moving across the country to take over the struggling IU program. For my money, this is likely the best hire IU could make considering their goal to keep their basketball in the 1960s and continue to make their players wear their silly pants. Bennett is an up and coming coaching superstar and may be the best X and O guy in his generation. But he sure plays slow and boring, exactly what IU seems to generally want. We shall see if he takes the job....and remember this....if neither Pearl or Bennett take the job, it is hard to think of another "slam dunk" coach who would.
