Top 20 recruit Maximo Adams set to announce college decision this week

Four-star wing Maximo Adams is ready to make his college decision — and Kentucky is among the group of finalists.
Multiple outlets are reporting that Adams will announce his future school on Friday, November 14. The 6-foot-7 native of California is down to just four options: Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Texas. Adams is considered the No. 20 overall prospect from the 2026 recruiting cycle, per the Rivals Industry Ranking.
The early signing period opened up on Wednesday and will continue until November 19.
Adams is the brother of Marcus Adams Jr., who once played for Kentucky head coach Mark Pope when the two were at BYU together during the 2023-24 season. The younger Adams took an official visit to Lexington back in September. He’s been on OVs to his other three finalists, as well.
“It means a lot to get an offer from Kentucky,” Adams told KSR+ after adding an offer in July. “Especially coming from Coach Pope, who’s a great coach and runs a great program. I think it’s a great program. Mark Pope came from BYU, and my brother went to BYU. Then, he transitioned to Kentucky, and he’s a great coach.”

While recruiting experts have yet to officially log any predictions for Adams, the sense is that his choice won’t be Kentucky. Considering the Wildcats are in the driver’s seat for another talented wing, five-star Christian Collins, and remain the frontrunner for the top-ranked player in the class, Tyran Stokes, it won’t be a huge surprise if Adams picks a school that isn’t UK. North Carolina is the program being mentioned most frequently in intel reports.
Along with Collins and Stokes, Kentucky is also in the mix for Caleb Holt, Deron Rippey Jr., Jordan Smith Jr., Baba Oladotun, and Arafan Diane.
