Travis Perry beats out Trent Noah to win a thrilling Big Blue Madness 3-Point Contest
Big Blue Nation, I am pleased to report that Kentucky has some shooters. But you already knew that, didn’t it?
But just in case you need more proof, Friday night’s 3-Point Contest at Big Blue Madness should help win you over. Freshman guard Travis Perry matched up against fellow freshman Trent Noah in what was an all-Kentucky native final round. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering both are among the state’s top five all-time leading scorers, Perry being the overall leader.

The two Bluegrass natives put on a shooting clinic to decide a champion, too. Noah went first, absolutely lighting up the racks with 26 total points. But Perry was just a smidge better, finishing with a total of 27 points to win the first BBM 3-Point Contest of the Mark Pope era. He hit both of his Simple Truth green ball shots, which were worth five points (regular balls were one point, money balls were two points) and ultimately put him over the edge.
Perry’s second-to-last shot handed him the win as his teammates mobbed him on the floor.
It was just this past spring that Perry and Lyon County got the best of Noah and Harlan County in the state championship. Perry just happened to get the better of Noah once again, this time as teammates.
