Mr. 4,000 will be in Lexington this weekend, scheduling an unofficial visit to Kentucky on Saturday.

Travis Perry, the top-ranked junior in the state, tells KSR he will be in attendance for the Wildcats’ matchup vs. Auburn inside Rupp Arena on Feb. 25. It will be his second trip to Lexington this season, also joining a long list of high-profile recruits for Big Blue Madness back in October.

The visit to Kentucky comes after head coach John Calipari and assistant KT Turner saw him play in Dawson Springs last week, where he dropped a Lyon County record 61 points in a 114-56 win.

Calipari gave a nod to Perry during his call-in radio show on Monday, singling out the in-state standout as a player he had wanted to see play in person. And he clearly lived up to the hype.

“Mickey Blue, (Dawson Springs’) coach, is a great guy and wanted me to come down to a game while they were playing Lyon County so I could go down and see a young man that I wanted to see — who scored 100 that night.”

It’s been a season of accomplishments and accolades for the four-star guard out of Eddyville. He scored his 4,000th career point two weeks ago, then followed it up with Lyon County’s single-game scoring record of 61 points a week later. Just this week, Perry scored 31 points in a 95-53 win over Livingston Central in the 5th District semifinals, pushing him over the 1,000-point mark this season. He becomes the first player to reach that feat since Dontaie Allen (Pendleton County) and Zion Harmon (Adair County) in 2018 and just the 28th player ever to do so in Kentucky.

With 4,191 career points, Perry is now just 147 points away from breaking Kelly “King” Coleman’s all-time state record of 4,337 points.

According to the On3 Consensus, Perry is ranked No. 87 overall in the country and is considered the top-ranked junior from the state. Along with Kentucky, the 6-foot-1 point guard holds additional offers from the likes of Creighton, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Michigan, Stanford, Vanderbilt, and Virginia. Perry has recently taken visits to a handful of those programs, including Ole Miss, Indiana, Michigan, and Purdue.

Now, the four-star standout will be soaking in Rupp Arena once again when the Wildcats take on the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.
