It was a big day for Trey Lyles and his family. Trey was committed to Indiana for almost two years before decommitting in August to find the right coach to get him ready for the NBA. After his commitment to Kentucky today, Trey's mother spoke to reporters, and had one interesting note to pass along. According to her, Trey and his family were attacked after his decommitment from IU, which made today a huge relief:
"It's very relieving. It's been, like he said, he's been attacked, the family's been attacked, since his decommitment, so this is definitely a weight lifted off his shoulders."
When asked how she dealt with that as a mother, Mrs. Lyles said that she was protective of her son:
"It's tough, but he's always thought of us as his shield. It'll bounce off us before it gets to him. But he's tough, we're a tough family. Anyone who knows us knows we're going to make it through this just fine."
Stay classy, Hoosiers.
