Turkish GM's doubts about Kanter's academics questioned again

by:Thomas Beisner10/20/10
r-lee-ermey-free-enes Kentucky fans and, presumably, the Kentucky coaches still await the ruling regarding Enes Kanter's elegibility for the upcoming basketball season.  To this point, the story that has gotten the most play nationally was Pete Thamel's piece(s) in which he allowed a Turkish GM lob grenades at Kanter's potential ability to play college basketball.  Today, Study in America, a program that helps Turkish students find educational opportunities in the United States, questions the portion of the story about Enes Kanter not being a serious or good student.  The blog entry says that Kanter made significant effort - more so than nearly all previous students -in reaching his goal of heading to America for college.  And, it comes from someone who apparently worked very closely with him.  So, chew on that.
