Former Kentucky Wildcat Tyrese Maxey is doing what he does best this offseason — staying busy. A relentless worker, free time is rarely registered in his daily agenda. That mentality is going to benefit kids in the Lexington area this weekend.

Saturday morning Tyrese Maxey is hosting a free camp at the Joe Craft Center from 9am – Noon. The Tyrese Maxey 1% Skill Camp will push children ages 7-12 to get 1% better, a mantra he lives by everyday. Registration is open now and sign-ins begin at 8 am ET.

The third and final free clinic Maxey has hosted this summer, he’s at his best when he’s at work. Philadelphia head coach Doc Rivers recently revealed the young guard asked him this offseason, “What do you do on vacation?” Throughout his entire life he’s spent his summers in the gym. That changed this year.

“It’s funny because I said it and I really meant it,” he told BBN Tonight’s Maggie Davis. “I’d never been on an actual vacation. This was my first time getting on a plane and actually not going to play basketball. Every time I’ve been on a plane since I’ve been in fifth grade, it’s going somewhere to do a recruiting visit or to play basketball or play for the USA team. This is the first time that I got on a plane and I didn’t even pack basketball shoes.”

Tyrese Maxey didn’t pack basketball shoes, but he did bring his cleats. The two-sport Texas-athlete recently reminded his followers that he did not forget how to sling the pigskin around the gridiron.

Tyrese Maxey is one of NBA’s bright young stars. Last year he averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting better than 42.5% from behind the three-point line. Sadly, our time with Tyrese was cut short, leaving Kentucky fans to wonder what could have been. Despite the circumstances, he still holds the BBN near and dear to his heart.
