UK baseball kicks off big weekend with win

Rogers pitched seven innings and gave up just two runs while earning the win. Cameron Flynn and Thomas McCarthy fueled the Cats' attack at the plate. McCarthy hit a two-run double in the second inning that put the 'Cats on the board first. After Alabama tied it in the next half-inning, UK took the lead for good in the bottom of the third on an RBI fielder's choice with the bases loaded. Rogers kept the Tide's bats at bay the rest of the game with a little help from the bullpen in the last two innings. The game was the first of a three-game series for the 'Cats. They are in the middle of a double-header right now. This is the last home series of the season for UK before the 'Cats head to Paducah for a game against Murray State, and then travel to Starkville, Miss. for the last series of the regular season against Mississippi State. If you haven't made it out to Cliff Hagan Stadium for a game this season then head out there and watch UK take out years and years of football related frustration on the Alabama baseball team.
