UK Basketball Schedule released

Today the University of Kentucky released the official 2006-2007 Kentucky basketball schedule and it once again shapes up to be quite a ride. While most will likely focus on the high profile games with UNC, Louisville, Indiana and the Maui Invitational, I like the lesser games as the randomness makes me happy. Kentucky has a couple of good mid-majors from years gone by as they play Miami (OH), where if UK was smart, they would bring Jamal Magloire back to punch out the mascot again and the College of Charleston, which is now coached by Bobby Cremins, who is returning from his years moonlighting as Taylor Hicks to try and bring success back to the sleep South Carolina town. There is also a scheduled encounter with Santa Clara, a team best known for being confused with Santa Claus and once beating Arizona in a game that made me very happy at the time. These games are all imminently loseable, but the Cats will likely play poorly in the first half in all of them but nevertheless win by 12. Also of interest are the exhibition games, as the Cats draw Lindsey Wilson, a college that I have never truly understood where it was located, but that I have always had in my mind. While at Transylvania, we seemingly played Lindsey Wilson in something all the time, thus confirming that the school does exist although I know no one who has ever gone there. The second exhibition is being scheduled for South Carolina Upstate which may be the best directional school that I have ever encountered. Rather than simply being a linear map direction, South Carolina Upstate takes a different approach, choosing to utilize the language spoken by grandmothers everywhere for the college's name. Hopefully we can schedule Georgia Over Yonder for next season. All in all a great year and one that will give all of the SEC one last chance to give a tribute to Woo. Hopefully the gift ceremonies at all the stops will be brief so the big guy does not get embarrassed. 2006-07 Kentucky Men’s Basketball Schedule (PDF) Nov. 2 LINDSEY WILSON (Exh) [BBSN], 7 p.m. Nov. 6 SOUTH CAROLINA UPSTATE (Exh), [BBSN], 7 p.m. Nov. 15 MIAMI, OH [FSN South#], 7 p.m. Nov. 17 MVSU [FSN South#], 7 p.m. Nov. 20 DePaul (Maui) [ESPN2] Nov. 21 TBA (Maui) [TBA] Nov. 22 TBA (Maui) [TBA] Nov. 28 COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON [FSN South#], 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at North Carolina [CBS], noon Dec. 5 Chattanooga (Lou.)
