Major David James, Major Glen Wright, Captain Kiel Wright, Specialist Truman Claytor (son of UK guard from the 1978 title team) and Sergeant Candice Funchess are all lifelong UK fans, and they have asked for today's afternoon notes and podcast. There's a lot, so let's run through it. --- The Kentucky Basketball Tip-off Luncheon was held in Louisville earlier today, featuring our own Matt Jones as emcee. The One-Million Dollar Question: Did Matt behave behind the microphone this year? According to Jerry Tipton, he did not. It's the most ridiculous manner possible. --- Of course, Calipari was the star of the show. He talked about his expectations for the 2012-13 season and even showed some love for that other team in the state. "They have a good program," he said of the Cards. "There is no disrespect. Rick Pitino is a great coach. Don't root against them." He added, "They're picking us third? What? I don't even know how we're going to play." Oh, Cal. --- In case you missed it this morning, Nerlens Noel made SportsCenter's Top 10 plays today for his dunk over Stone Cold Willow at the Big Blue Madness campout. That's now two years in a row that Tent City has made SportsCenter's Top 10. --- Nerlens is also in the news today after Adam Zagoria released a report saying the star freshman is still under investigation by the NCAA. Noel has been cleared to play academically, but his amateur status is in question. The NCAA is looking into how Noel paid for some of his unofficial visits before he committed to UK. --- James Young will announce his college decision Thursday on ESPNU during the 5:00 ET recruiting special. Kentucky is in great shape to land the commitment, considering its the only school Young has visited. There have also been reports of the Harrison twins calling Young after they committed last week, asking him to join them in Lexington. --- Calipari told tip-off luncheon attendees that Anthony Davis finished last year with a 3.87 GPA. Bob Knight was not available for comment. --- Day 3 of the Big Blue Madness ticket giveaway was a success. Have a listen as a lucky listener wins two tickets and Matt and the gang discuss all things UK.
