UK Fans of the Day Love Afternoon Notes

by:Matt Jones04/08/10
ukfansgame Notes from the sadness that ensues when it gets cold the day before I am to go to Keeneland: --- Late breaking news this afternoon that Demarcus Cousins has signed with an agent, which will make his entry into the Draft certain. Cousins signed with an agent out of Washington named John Greig, whose lists of clients does not include a name nearly as big as Demarcus's. Cousins will certainly get the top service, but if you look at the client list here, you will see at least one UK connection, our man Gerald Fitch. Fitch and Boogie together means that Greig is now Mr. Bluegrass state. --- The other big news of the day is the decommitment of Austin Rivers from Florida, another crippling blow to Billy Donovan, who must think that the back to back national titles seem like two decades ago. Rivers is the real deal and his decommitment puts a number of schools in play, most specifically Duke, where he is thought to lean. Rivers however also is hearing from Kentucky and tells Jerry Meyer that Kentucky will be one school that he considers for 2011. That class is going to be a monster folks. --- John Calipari sent out on Facebook his recruiting schedule today, well at least by state. He said he was in North Carolina and Virginia today, which likely means that he is seeing CJ Leslie and Doron Lamb on the trail. Those two are part of the final flurry to get a 2010 class that can make UK one of the top teams next year. Many had argued that Lamb was not part of UK's plans, but if this trip is for him (and he seems to be the most likely candidate until the Boo Williams Tournaments starts in Virginia tomorrow), there would still seem to be mutual interest. --- The UK basketball team has been working out with Rock Oliver and the football boys a bit these last two days. Both Darius Miller and Josh Harrellson have tweeted about how tough the workouts have been, as Rock tries to show the basketball boys how it is done. Rock scares me here in Louisville and we havent even met in five years. So I can only imagine what he is doing to our boy Jorts. --- Dont forget that the Derby Classic is Saturday at 8 pm. The Derby folks are sponsors of this site and the event will include Stacey Poole and others. Do not miss the chance to see the guys play and watch the future Cat in action. We will have more later....CATS
