UK Fans of the Day Want Afternoon Notes

by:Matt Jones09/13/10
tallpat Its an exciting Monday afternoon and giant Patrick Patterson and the UK ladies welcome us to it: --- Joker Phillips had his press conference today and went over a number of subjects. First off, he said that even though Morgan Newton hit the field first Saturday, there has been no selection of the backup QB going forward. Joker said that deciding who will play will be a "feel thing" and that he will make the decision on a game by game basis if necessary. He also said that he never really considered redshirting Newton this year. --- Phillips also said that the part of UK's play he is most disappointed in at this time is the inability of the Defense to rap up and tackle after the first hit. Over half of the yards gained by Western on Saturday were after the first hit and the touchdown on the kickoff return occurred after two players had the runner wrapped up. Phillips said this would be a focus of the practices this week and he expected improvement against Akron. --- Derrick Locke will become the 6th player in school history to rush for over 2,000 yards this week vs Akron. Quite an accomplishment for a kid that was never expected to even play Running Back in college. --- If you listened to the radio show this morning, I talked about a potential series beginning in basketball next year with another high power basketball program. You can get a lot of the details on the podcast about how and why, as soon as our servers on the 1080 site are back up and the podcast can be uploaded. --- You gotta love this story about former Vol basketball player CJ Watson hooking up with Floyd Mayweather, then leading to his domestic violence charge that occurred soon after. I would have expected the story with Tony Harris, but never CJ Watson. If you havent yet, please follow the KSR Facebook page. It is where we will have our latest updates on site issues and the radio show. Plus ticket giveaways during basketball season...make sure and join. More later this afternoon....
