UK Fans of the Day Want Afternoon Notes

by:Matt Jones02/04/10
fanscats On a day where very little is going on, life is much saner. A few notes: --- Draft Express, one of the sites that specializes in telling us where a random person believes players will go in the Draft, does something called "efficiency ratings", in which they see which players are the most effective and efficient at production while on the court. Demarcus Cousins is the highest in their 7 year history covering the statistic. Cousins registers as the most efficient player in America this year and the only two players close over the past 7 years are Michael Beasley and Andrew Bogut. It is a big man stat (because of rebounding), but still, quite impressive. --- One more word on the football recruiting class. The SEC had 8 of the top 25 classes in America according to the ESPN rankings. Kentucky's was 49th. I dont say that to diminish the class as I actually think Joker closed strong and the number of 3 stars is better than in any year previous. But it goes to show you that a class that is dominant in the Big East, is at the bottom in the SEC, showing how hard it is to win at Kentucky. --- In the end, if the NCAA Tournament expands, blame the coaches in the Big East. Adam Zagoria reports they as a group are at the forefront of pushing the movement so more teams from their conference can make the Big Dance. Another reason to hate the Big East. --- CJ Leslie tells the Cats Pause today that he wont make a decision until the year ends. For Cat fans, an early decison would have been preferable, because it would have been UK. Still think he ends up at Kentucky, but the later it goes, the more hometown pressure will rise. By the way, if you live in Frankfort, Kentucky, we will be taping the podcast at The Dragon in Frankfort on Saturday after the game. Make sure and plan to stop by, say hello, and make fun of Drew.
