UK Fans of the Day Want Afternoon Notes

by:Matt Jones02/12/10
fanscats1 --- So the big news of the day is of course the showdown against the crazy Vols on Saturday and the talk about whether it will be a close game. Hubert Davis picked the Vols on ESPN, but otherwise most think that it is a game for the Cats to roll. A huge deal for Tennessee will be whether it is fully healthy and can remain out of foul trouble. There has been talk this week of a potential foot injury for Wayne Chism and Brian Williams, the center who has been there for 14 years, are really the only big men who can even fathom guarding Cousins and Patterson. If they get in foul trouble, the inside could part like the red sea. --- Tomorrow is of course College Gameday and everyone is ready for the big event. I dont expect Rupp to be packed, but I do expect a very large, record-breaking crowd. The actual event's doors open at 8:30 and the show goes live at 11 am. But the best part may take place afterwards, when former players come and talk to the crowd and do a couple of special events. There are a couple of surprise guests which the fans will like and we will be there, taping our podcast on the scene at Rupp. It should be a lot of fun. --- Former Vol Bernard King gave a pep talk to Tennessee's team yesterday that included this quote: "We don't lose to Kentucky," King told the Vols. "You hear me? We're not losing to Kentucky. I'm going to be there with you, and we're going to get it done." For you youngsters, King was one of the best players in history that isnt really remembered, and he may be the best to ever wear the Orange and White. He was part of the "Bernie and Ernie" show with Ernie Grunfeld and his battles with UK during that era were legendary. Now he still wont be able to stop the force of nature that is Kentucky, but I love the enthusiasm and the idea of former players getting involved in big games. --- Also, if you are in Lexington tomorrow, KSR is teaming up with Fark.com and Tucker Max for an afterparty celebrating the UT win at Saddle Ridge, beginning shortly after the game. Tucker is going to be there doing his Tucker thing and it should be a cool event, with a couple of former players stopping by. Make an appearance if you are around. --- Finally, I will be on 104.5 The Zone with Clay Travis and the crew at 2 pm Eastern today to preview the Kentucky-Tennessee game. If you live in Western Kentucky or Nashville, you can listen on the air, or if you are elsewhere, click the link above to stream the interview. Its a big day and the Vols are tomorrow...that means we got a lot of hating to do. Be ready....
