Good afternoon, BBN. I hope you're enjoying your Monday. No? Don't worry, it's almost over. Here are some notes to get you through: -- On this morning's SEC Coaches' Teleconference, John Calipari said that he's trying to keep his team "in the moment" after their win over Missouri. After Wednesday's game against Mississippi State (who is really, really bad), the Cats hit the road for games against Arkansas and Georgia. Crucial to the team's success? Archie Goodwin and Ryan Harrow. Cal said that the team can't afford for Ryan to have another game where he doesn't score: "Ryan had eight rebounds and six assists last game. And he played. You know, we got to get 10, 12, 14 points from him. We can’t have games like Tennessee and Florida where he doesn’t want to get in plays and doesn’t shoot balls." -- Cal also said that the staff is still trying to "figure out" Archie Goodwin. While Goodwin is the hardest worker on the team--Cal says he's in the gym every night--his tendency to be too hard on himself after making a mistake digs him into a hole. The only solution? Time. "He’s got the work habits and the drive you need to be special. Now, that mentality of playing, that feel for the game, that takes maturity and time. It just doesn’t happen in two months. It’s a lot of trial and error." -- It sounds like Mississippi State coach Rick Ray knows how bad his team is, lamenting about roster turnover, injuries, and off-the-court issues: "The thing that we have to realize — and our team knows it — is there is nobody, there is nobody in the country that’s went through what we’ve went through." Ray said that he's impressed with how Cal's changed things up offensively since losing Noel and that he's concerned about Kyle Wiltjer's presence in the post. He praised Wiltjer's patience and touch around the basket...does this foretell a big game for Big Wiltj? -- After falling to LSU, UK Hoops fell to #10 in the AP poll. Matthew Mitchell's squad will look to get back on track against Ole Miss on Thursday. -- If you purchased tickets to a UK sporting event through the Ticket Office lately, chances are you received this with your order: Is it April 13th yet? -- Finally, enjoy Kentucky native Jennifer Lawrence's press conference after she won the Oscar for Best Actress last night. If she weren't a Louisville fan, she would officially be my hero. On today's show, Matt and Ryan recapped the Cats' big win over Missouri, the GameDay festivities, and the "sweet" old lady that chewed me out after Friday's radio show. Have a listen at TalkRadio1080.com. P.S. She was not sweet.
