Castle came into Sunday needing to outbattle Arizona’s Vivian Hou for the top spot in a 36-hole bout. Castle found herself with a three-hole lead in the match-play format with only seven holes left to go. After dropping her next two holes, Castle found a way to fend off Hou down the stretch to become champion.

Castle came in ranked 63rd for the tournament and came out on top. She’s just the third 63rd seed to win a USGA championship.
