Coffel, a rising sophomore shortstop for Kentucky Softball, has made the Team USA U-18 National Team Roster, according to UK Athletics. USA Softball made the announcement on Friday afternoon. Coffel is one of 18 players to make the cut. The 2021 USA Softball U-18 Junior Women’s National Team (JWNT) will compete at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 World Cup in Lima, Peru, from August 28-September 5, and then the Junior Pan American Games in Barranquilla, Columbia, from November 25-December 5. Team USA is in the hunt for its fourth straight WBSC Junior Women’s World Championship title. During her first season playing college softball, Coffel was tabbed to the Second Team All-SEC, the SEC All-Freshman Team, and the 2021 NFCA Second Team All-Region. She hit .337 this past season for a consistently ranked Kentucky squad. She started all 59 games for the 'Cats, recording 60 hits, 16 home runs, and 56 RBI. Coffel led her team in both home runs and RBI while becoming the first-ever true freshman to start at shortstop for head coach Rachel Lawson in her 14-year tenure. [UK Athletics]
