UK Women’s Volleyball faces Morehead State tonight

uk spring game (H/t Regina Rickert) The UK Women’s Volleyball team will host Morehead State tonight at 7 p.m. in its last non-conference game of their 2013 regular season. The Cats have fought hard against non-conference teams, finishing 10-matches with a record of 7-3 and only losing one match at home so far. Tonight’s meeting is the 32nd meeting between the two schools,, but the first since 2008. Overall, the Eagles have only beaten the Cats 7 times and UK has won 21-straight. msu Getting to know the Eagles Morehead State is currently 9-4 this season and has won five straight contests (seven of the last eight). The Eagles last matches were at the Pittsburgh Panther Invitational where they beat Rutgers, Cornell and Pit. The Eagles are led by Jaime Gordon who is in his 11th year as head coach. He has led Morehead State to four Ohio Valley Conference titles in the last five seasons. The girls also had a perfect 16-0 league mark in 2012. Kentucky needs to keep an eye out for senior Aryn Bohannon. She leads the Eagles with 146 kills on the season for a 2.75 kill-per-set average. Sophomore Courtney Smith was just named Panther Invitational MVP and has 136 kills on the season and a team best 3.16 kills-per-set mark.   The last time the Cats played they had 40 kills on a .522 hitting percentage with only five hitting errors the entire match against Lipscomb. Morgan Bergren led the offense with 32 assists and 6 digs. Kentucky’s defense held Lipscomb to just a .089 hitting performance.
