USA Today used Lane Kiffin and Kentucky in the same sentence

The University of Kentucky currently has a football coach named Mark Stoops but that in no way kept USA Today from naming Kentucky one of the eight schools that could potentially land Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin this coming winter.

There’s about a two percent chance Kiffin returns for another year under Nick Saban, so the former Vols and USC head man will be in the mix at most of the major job openings after Alabama wins the title. Kentucky could be one of those openings, according to USA Today, along with West Virginia, Arizona, NC State, Houston, San Diego State, Fresno State and Auburn.

Here’s what the website had to say about Kentucky’s prospects to ditch Stoops and hire Kiffin:

Kentucky: “Nobody is going to be a bigger rock star in Lexington than John Calipari, but Kiffin might give him a run for his money.”

Okay, first of all, there’s no way Kiffin’s celebrity could hold a candle to Calipari’s in Lexington. (Although he would be a popular man at the city’s nightlife establishments.) Not a chance. Get that thought out of your head.

And Kentucky has a head football coach, currently, so this discussion is pointless anyway.

(But it’s an interesting thought.)
