Josh Clemons sat out the last few days of Kentucky football practice with swelling in that knee he injured last season against South Carolina. The sophomore running back underwent an MRI on Tuesday, according to running backs coach Steve Pardue, and they're waiting to hear back from the doctors to find out the results. "He's ready to play mentally," Pardue said after Wednesday's practice. "We just gotta make sure he's back healthy." Pardue told reporters his goal is to have six backs "ready to go" when the season starts in a little over two weeks, and Clemons is part of that rotation. "We need him back as soon as we can," he said. Clemons was leading the team in rushing last season when the injury occurred -- which isn't saying a lot. He had rushed for 297 yards through six games, including an 87-yard touchdown against Central Michigan. At the beginning of fall camp, Joker Phillips said redshirting Clemons wasn't an option. Has his mindset changed?
