There is not a person on earth more locked-in than an athlete whose coach has given them an opportunity to end practice early. A once lost video from 2018 has now surfaced on the Internet and it features a freshman Tyler Herro hitting six consecutive 3s after John Calipari told him that practice would end early if he hit them all in a row. Herro obliged, much to the fulfillment of his teammates. https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/1313333520996200453 If you happened to walk in during that moment, you'd have thought there was a cash prize on the line. But nope, just the chance to shower a half-hour early. Do you think Calipari did that thinking there was no way Herro would hit them all? Or did coach maybe want himself a short day, too? Either way, Herro did what he was born to do: Get Buckets. I can only imagine what other kinds of highlight practice clips are hidden away forever in the bowels of the Joe Craft Center... Oh, and by the way, Herro will play in his fourth NBA Finals game later tonight, likely his third in a row as a starter. It would seem those college skills have translated quite well.
