Garrard County, stand up!

Lancaster native Alex Miller brought some serious twang to the American Idol premiere on Sunday night’s show, rocking a western shirt and all the confidence you can cram into a 17-year-old’s body. After charming the judges with his accent (“I hope you sing like you talk,” said Lionel Richie), he busted out, of all things, a dang breakup song he wrote about his ex-girlfriend called “I’m Over You, So Get Over Me.”

Check out this sauce:

If that’s not a classic country song, I don’t know what is.

Luke Bryan, who is also considered a country music singer, grabbed his conveniently placed guitar to join young Alex on a duet of Merle Haggard’s “Big City” before informing Alex’s family that he’s headed to Hollywood for the next round.

Alex will be talking with Matt Jones on tomorrow’s KSR radio show, so tune in to find out what the whole experience has been like so far.

You can hear more from Alex on his Facebook page.
