In the Bluegrass Bowl at Joseph K. Ford Stadium on the campus of Lexington Catholic, the Knights came away victorious in a thrilling matchup.

Max DeGraff nailed a 47-yard field goal as time expired to give No. 16 Lexington Catholic a huge 38-36 home win over No. 12 Pulaski County.

In the shootout, DeGraff also reeled in two receptions for 77 yards scoring one touchdown. Meanwhile, quarterback Jack Gohmann power the offensive attack with 338 all-purpose yards.

On the other side, Pulaski County quarterback Drew Polston threw for over 300 yards and gave the Maroons a shot at victory.

“(Polston) has a lot of experience,” Lexington Catholic head coach Nigel Smith told KSR after the game. “He’s got a good set of skills. We tried to limit some of the things he did, we knew we’d give up a little bit especially on a short week’s notice.

That late notice was due to Johnson Central having to back out of the game just earlier this week. Pulaski County stepped in, and the Knights squeaked out another single-possession win to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Meanwhile, Pulaski County now stands at 1-1 and will have to travel to Lincon County next week. However, the Maroons’ strong passing game should give them a chance to win a ton of games this season.

KSR was on-site for the matchup, and Barkley Traux has everything you need to know. Bradley McKee brought the camera and put together a beautiful highlight package.
