Tubby Smith was awarded a great honor last night being inducted into the Kentucky Hall of Fame, and watching his speech just reminds us how awesome he is. While he left the UK basketball program a little bit lower than most fans wanted, he did win a title and he still loves Big Blue Nation.

Tubby Smith was a three-time National Coach of the Year in 1998, 2003, and 2005, as well as a three-time SEC Coach of the Year selection. While at the helm, Kentucky basketball claimed five regular-season SEC championships and five SEC Tournament crowns. In the NCAA Tournament, Tubby finished his career at UK with a stellar 23-9 record, and along with a national title in ’98 he guided UK to three additional Elite Eight appearances. In SEC Tournament action, he owned a 20-5 mark going on to win five championships. Smith coached UK to 22 or more victories in all 10 of his seasons.

You can also watch Josh Hopkins’ speech and Rex Chapman’s too.
