Well That was not Pretty at all

I was worried this was going to happen. After the emotional game last night, I was truly concerned about this game. There may be no team in America that Kentucky matches up worse with than Memphis. Long, athletic, with some good shooters from the drive and dish.....well it is a recipe for disaster, and it was. Kentucky played fairly well in the first half, but fell apart in the second. This team's athletic limitations were shown, its shooting inconsistency highlighted and its talent deficiencies magnified. While the UCLA game could still be looked at positively, there is very little good that came out of this 80-63 Memphis win. But if you want to find something, you can see that we still are getting strong play from Randolph Morris. His inside presence was felt (although not enough down the stretch) and he continued to show offensive ability that all too often has been missing. However after Morris it gets tough. Ramel Bradley struggled again, Joe Crawford scored 15 but often disappeared and Sheray Thomas took all the good I saw from last night and threw it up and decided to ignore it. And the freshmen......well they looked like freshmen. This game will end up haunting UK as the season goes along. The Cats needed two wins in Maui and while losing last night was forgiveable, getting blown out tonight is not. While these Cats never quit (as the team often did last year), they also didnt look anything but atrocious in the second half. Going into Thanksgiving, this is a tough one to take. Over the next couple of holiday days, look to the blog for some diversion as we take a couple of days off from UK basketball to get ready for the Tennessee football game and some basketball recruiting. We have lots of good stuff planned on here the next few days, including the release of the ESPN show we did tonight. When not with your family this weekend, check it out. I understand that there is a lot of negativity around tonight and I understand that. But for me, it is time to enjoy the weekend and try to forget this bad taste in my mouth. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!
