What Lineup Do You Want to See Next Year?

by:Bobby Reagan05/15/15
Derek-Willis1As we watch our former Cats in the NBA Combine today I start to ask myself what will the starting lineup look like next season? Yes, I know it's early, but come on we're Kentucky fans it's what we do, right? Immediately I thought of a starting five of Tyler Ulis, Isaiah Briscoe, Alex Poythress, Marcus Lee and Skal Labissiere. It makes sense in terms of Cal liking to play as big as possible and wanting to grow Poythress for the NBA, where he'll play the small forward position. It's also the five best players on the team, in this writer's opinion. However, is that the best five to start? The position that worries me the most is what to do at the small forward and power forward positions. During the 2010-11 season, Kentucky was limited in the post, playing Jorts and Jones the majority of minutes, even having to slide Darius Miller to the power forward spot. It obviously worked out well with a trip to the Final Four, but we find ourselves in the same position here. Skal and Lee are the only two true post players we have expected to play serious minutes, so do you want to start both? If you only start one, obviously Lee would be the likely one to come off the bench and then you start Mychael Mulder at the small forward spot allowing the floor to open up with his shooting. There's still a lot of variables with this lineup as opposed to previous years where you could almost immediately guess who would be where. There's the curious case of Derek Willis and Charles Matthews as well. So, my question to you Big Blue Nation is, what lineup do you want to see start next season?
