Whatcha Think About New Year's Eve in Atlanta?

by:Matt Jones11/11/08
horsie As the regular season winds down, the Bowl Picture clears up and it is obvious at this point that the Cats are on a destined path to Atlanta for the Chik-Fil-A Bowl. Why is that.....well if the Cats win their last 2 games, then they will be at 8-4, the same record as South Carolina (absent an upset loss to Clemson) with the Outback and Chik-Fil-A Bowls picking in that order. It is generally assumed (both by the media and the folks at UK) that the Outback will pick South Carolina, due to the Spurrier factor and the head-to-head game (both fan bases are expected to travel similarly to a game of that distance). Win one game and the Chik-Fil-A will be choosing between Ole Miss and Kentucky (both 7-5 teams) and I was told that it is all but assured that the Cats would be picked by the Atlanta game. Thus 1 or 2 wins and Atlanta is likely home. What if they win 0 games? Well due to Tennessee's loss, that would mean that the Cats are once again slotted in the Music City-Liberty segment, this time with Vanderbilt. Does the Music City take home field Vandy or does UK decide to do something different and play Tulsa in Memphis? Hard to say.....lets hope that choice doesnt happen. So if it is New Years Eve (8 pm kick) in Atlanta versus (as of now) hometown Georgia Tech, what would you think? Nothing like getting out of the Georgia Dome at 11:30 pm, just in time to ring in the New Year in downtown Atlanta! But seriously, it would be the highest bowl game for UK since Couch went to the Outback, so you gotta be at least a bit excited.
