[caption id="attachment_171098" align="aligncenter" width="788"]dfendthehoop.com dfendthehoop.com[/caption] Upon working on the post that went up at 7, I made the discovery that Eloy Vargas is on the Los Angeles D-Fenders roster, which is a NBA D-League team.  I was completely unaware that he was currently on any roster, so I decided to look a little closer at his life, and basically stalk him.  I compiled a timeline for Eloy Vargas, accompanied with stats, from the time he left Kentucky, until tonight. 2012- Eloy Graduates from UK After going undrafted and graduating from the University of Kentucky, Eloy Vargas returned to his home in the Dominican Republic.  He began playing in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto for the "Cañeros de La Romana."  After that first year with the Cañeros de La Romana, Vargas signed a two-year deal with another team, then before he even played for the other team, he left them and signed with a team in Hungary.  But then he never actually joined that team in Hungary.  This all happened in 2012, if you lost track, by the way.  He played in one game for the CB Clavijo, for one minute, and attempted one goal, which he made.  So 100% shooting.  Be positive folks. 2013-2014 Season: D-League... Kinda He ended up playing for three different Dominican teams in 2013 before July of 2013, when he went to the New York Knicks for the NBA summer league.  In the five games that Vargas played for the Knicks, he was 12-25 for 48% for field goals, and 2-5 behind the arc for 40%.  He had a total of 19 rebounds and three blocks.  On November 27 of 2013, he signed with a team in Spain for the rest of the 2013-2014 season.  With Baloncesto Fuenlabrada, Vargas got a lot more playing time to develop as a player.  He appeared in 27 games, starting nine of them, and averaging 15 minutes per game.  He was averaging almost 5 and a half points per game, and about four rebounds a game.  In June of 2014, Eloy signed with the Metros de Santiago, back in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto. Eloy's Big Break. On November 1, 2014, Eloy was selected by the LA D-Fenders with the 17th overall pick in the NBA D-League Draft.  This is where I'm getting confused.  According to this, Eloy was then deactivated on November 13th, before he had even played a game.  Then, reactivated on November 21st, just in time to play 31 minutes and score 14 points... that very same day.  Then he was deactivated on December 12th, following a 30 minute, 10 point game against the Austin Spurs.  He's still listed on the official roster of the D-Fenders, but then on the site I linked above, he is linked as an unrestricted free agent.  Since Eloy was listed as deactivated on December 12th, the D-Fenders have won two games, but have lost three, those three all happening between December 26th and now.   I'm crossing my fingers for a last minute activation, and believe that may have been what happened, since he is listed on the roster.  Who is to know?? I guess you should follow along and find out how this plays out.... Tip off is at 9:30 PM ET.  Anyone know where I can get a L.A D-Fenders shirt?
