perry_stevenson9 Perry Stevenson is one of the few Kentucky basketball players to play under three different head coaches. Stevenson was recruited by Tubby Smith and played under him during the  2006-07 season before Billie Gillispie took over for the next two seasons. Then his senior year (2009-10), Stevenson played for John Calipari. Stevenson finished his career at Kentucky with 602 points, 491 rebounds and 160 blocked shots. Stevenson's most prolific time at Kentucky was the final five games of the '07-'08 season. Filling in for the injured sophomore, Patrick Patterson, Stevenson averaged 9.4 points, 9 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. His play helped end a seven-game losing streak to Florida on Kentucky's Senior Day. He was then signed by the Tulsa 66ers of the Development League, but only played in two games where he scored a total of three points. The following season, Stevenson was selected by the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA D-League Draft. Two weeks later, the Jam deactivated Stevenson. In 2012, Stevenson took his basketball talents overseas to Portugal. Stevenson spent the 2012-13 season with Galitos Tley where he averaged 10.6 points in six games. After a few months in Portugal, Stevenson realized that his time as a basketball player was over. In his return to Lexington, Stevenson got a job coaching sixth graders at Lexington Christian Academy. Along with coaching at LCA, Stevenson worked with Kentucky Heartbeat, a website dedicated to Kentucky sports. The website is no longer active. On May 7, 2014 Stevenson was named as an assistant coach for the Trinity High School basketball team. Following the hire, head coach Mike Szabo had high praise of Stevenson.
"I'm very pleased to add Perry Stevenson to our coaching staff at Trinity," Szabo said in a news release. "I've really enjoyed getting to know him through the interview process. Everyone I spoke with had wonderful things to say about him as a person and his ability to coach young people. Our players at Trinity will benefit a great deal from his experience as a player. Perry is excited to start his coaching career at Trinity, and we are thrilled to have him."
Trinity finished with a 24-6 record and went 5-0 in their district in Stevenson's first year. Their season ended in the semi-finals of the 7th Region tournament with a 67- 54 loss to Ballard.
