Where Kentucky baseball ranks in final NCAA Tournament projections

It’s about that time, Big Blue Nation. Kentucky baseball is set to host a Regional in Lexington this weekend for the first time since 2017 and just the third time in school history.

The Bat Cats were announced as one of 16 nationally seeded NCAA Baseball Regional host schools, but what final ranking? And who will they take on from June 2-5 at Kentucky Proud Park? Those details will be announced at noon ET on ESPN2’s selection show.

Until then, final projections have been updated prior to the official release this afternoon. There, Kentucky is ranked No. 13 overall by D1Baseball and No. 14 by Baseball America.

D1Baseball believes Kentucky will be in Lexington alongside Boston College (2), Xavier (3) and Wright State (4) while Baseball America believes it will be West Virginia (2), Xavier (3) and Ball State (4) joining the Cats at KPP.

Kentucky entered the SEC Tournament ranked No. 9 overall by D1Baseball and No. 11 by Baseball America, meaning the opening-round loss to Alabama in Hoover dropped Nick Mingione’s squad four spots in the former and three in the latter — but enough to keep the program inside that top-16 threshold.

The NCAA clearly agreed, announcing Kentucky as a Regional host late Sunday evening. Now, the real fun begins, with the full bracket set to come out this afternoon.
