Where the Wildcats fall in Mock Drafts one week from the NFL Draft

It's the closest thing we've had to live sports since the wave of coronavirus cancellations began during college basketball's conference championship week. The NFL Draft will look different thanks to COVID-19. The process leading into next week's event was more restrictive than ever before. Pro Days across the country were canceled, eliminating an opportunity for prospects not invited to the NFL Combine to workout in front of NFL scouts. Some schools filmed individuals training to send to teams. UK recently released pro day numbers recorded by players prior to the beginning of the pandemic. "I’ve never worked in the NFL, they’ve gotta do what they’ve gotta do but maybe it will be good for them to quit worrying about all the other things and just look at the film and see who the best football players are, because he (Bowden) certainly is one of them,” Stoops said last month. The same applies to the large NFL Draft analysis industry. Unable to nitpick through pro day footage, the "experts" have been forced to exclusively grind tape. Ahead of next week's virtual draft, Lynn Bowden and Logan Stenberg are the only Wildcats that are sure-fire picks. Typically in the third-fifth round range, expect to wait until Friday or Saturday to hear a Wildcat's name called.

Pro Football Focus

In their latest three-round mock draft, Logan Stenberg is selected ahead of Bowden. The mauler from Alabama falls in the third round at No. 95 overall to the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos may look to upgrade over Elijah Wilkinson at guard and, if so, Sternberg has the physicality to fit right in. He’s sure to have the nastiness that offensive line coaches love — albeit, sometimes detrimental with 24 penalties to his name over the past two seasons.

Stenberg is once again just ahead of Bowden in this projection, coming in at No. 81 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders, while Bowden is just a few picks later in the third round at No. 88 overall to the New Orleans Saints.

Bowden is raw but he has Taysom Hill type versatility without the injury history or the age concerns (Hill is 30).

The Athletic

Dane Brugler does more heavy lifting than any other draft analyst on the market. While some folks simply spit out a two-round mock draft every few weeks, this guy creates a 200+ page document that details every single prospect. In his analysis Bowden is the draft's 19th-ranked wide receiver, falling somewhere in the third to fourth round. Stenberg is the No. 8 interior offensive lineman in the draft. Stenberg's pad level in pass sets is critiqued, but Brugler believes he can eventually become a starter, falling in the fifth round in next week's draft. They aren't the only Wildcats to receive a shout out. Brugler believes a team could take a shot on Calvin Taylor Jr. with a seventh round pick, while Ahmad Wagner's potential will certainly earn him a spot on a practice squad.
