Who Would NCAA Coaches Take over Skal for One Year?

by:Bobby Reagan08/10/15
skalcrop The guys over at CBS Sports polled roughly 100 NCAA head coaches about different things heading into the 2015-16 season. The series is called 'Candid Coaches' and the first release came out today regarding who would those coaches take for just one year. Four percent of the coaches polled said they would take Skal Labissiere, which was the sixth highest amount behind Kris Dunn (Providence), Ben Simmons (LSU), Georges Niang (Iowa State), Melo Trimble (Maryland) and Fred VanVleet (Wichita State).  Call me crazy, but I'll take the seven footer who can beat his man off the dribble, stretch the floor past the 3-point line and protect the rim over the likes of Melo Trimble and FVV. Sure, they are talented players but do they really change the game as much as a guy like Skal can? On the flip side it's hard to argue with who they chose in Kris Dunn as he's a walking triple-double and at 6'4" has great size for the point guard position. The coaches said this about Skal: On Skal Labissiere: "If you asked this question to NBA scouts instead of college coaches you'd get a lot of votes for Skal. They know how talented he is. But most college coaches haven't seen him much because he didn't play much high school basketball, and he bounced around different teams in the summers." Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray also received votes. Anyone on the list you think the coaches are missing?
