Yesterday was good. The Cats won on the road, and anytime the Cats can do that, it’s a thumbs up for everyone around Big Blue Nation. There was plenty of Olympics to watch if you’re into that, and Greek Sing was a success heard round UK. Sadly, I woke up today, looked out my window and saw MORE SNOWFALL. Will this polar vortex ever end? Now on to the links….

Michael Grant from USA Today breaks down the Kentucky victory over Mississippi State yesterday and how the Cats went past their “usual suspects” and used their bench players to get the win.

-Yes, the Olympics just started but it’s never too early to be on “medal count watch”. Currently Norway leads all countries with six medals and USA has three, but I have a feeling that will soon change…Meanwhile, the Olympic games are all about stories of triumph and success, and there is none better than the story of Bruno Banani, the first winter athlete from the tiny island of Tonga who changed his name to a German underwear brand and answered a radio ad, all in hopes of making it on to the world’s biggest stage.

-If you haven’t seen it already well….you’re about to. Last night, Marcus Smart potentially ruined his reputation for the rest of his career by getting in a physical altercation with a Texas Tech fan following an Oklahoma State loss. ESPN explains how quickly Smart went from being one of America’s favorite redemption stories to a temper tantrum throwing Cowboy.

-The Kentucky women get back on the court today after a bye week, and hope to string together consecutive wins for the first time in a month. It will be a tall task as the Cats are on the road against the Florida Gators, a team they lost to earlier in January. Check out the pre-game brought to you by UK Athletics.

-ICYMI Melvin Ejim from Iowa State scored a Big 12 record 48 points on Saturday night as the Cyclones blew out the TCU Horned Frogs. He did so on 20-24 shooting, and also picked up a career high 18 rebounds. Big boy numbers…
