Even though the playoffs are still underway, NFL Draft season is here. Now 100 days away from the ceremony in Kansas City, analysts are digging in to create a pecking order of prospects, Will Levis is already rising through the ranks to the top of big boards.

Before you shake your head and say, “What do those ‘draft guys’ really know about football?” consider this. When the sportsbooks first began taking future bets for the NFL Draft, Levis was +3000 to be selected with the first overall pick. A week ago on FanDuel he was still +2000. Tuesday morning, the day after CJ Stroud announced he’s leaving Ohio State, Levis is the fifth choice at +850. If Vegas sees the train coming down the tracks, brace yourselves.

Levis recently began training for the NFL Draft with Jordan Palmer. You probably remember his Heisman Trophy winning brother, Carson. Now the former NFL backup quarterback is the top QB trainer on the market. Three of his former clients will be playing in the AFC playoffs this weekend, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen and Trevor Lawrence. Will Levis is doing all of the right things this offseason and it’s only just begun.

Liam Coen Knows Pro Scouts will be Impressed

Liam Coen spent four of the last five years working directly with NFL quarterbacks under one of the brightest offensive minds in football. He knows what coaches and front office personnel are looking for in a franchise quarterback. That’s why his old Kentucky quarterback will hear his name called early at this spring’s NFL Draft in Kansas City.

“His best football is still ahead of him. I truly believe that Will will have a long, successful NFL career. The guy’s played through multiple different coordinators and multiple different years, obviously. Battled through a ton on injuries, as you mentioned, struggled to protect him a little bit last year,” Coen said at his re-introductory press conference last week.

This guy is going to wow them, in every form and fashion. I mean, he’s extremely talented throwing the football, but you get him in a room, you get around him, you can feel his confidence. He’ll be able to speak the language and he’ll be able to come into a locker room and get along with the guys.”

Latest Mock Drafts on Will Levis

Similar to bracketology, NFL mock drafts tend to go in one ear and out the other as they flood your timeline over the next few months. Over at CBS, they seem to pump out one a day for the next 100 days. Yesterday one CBS analyst predicted a Colts trade to No. 1 overall to pick Levis. Consume that content at your own risk.

Some mock drafts carry more weight than others. Dane Brugler at The Athletic is one of the best in the biz. When he talks about prospects, pay attention. Even he is buying into the Will Levis hype at the top of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. In his second mock draft of the cycle, Brugler has the Kentucky QB going No. 2 overall to the Texans, behind only Alabama’s Bryce Young.

Obviously, this selection will be heavily influenced by the Texans’ new hire at head coach. It wouldn’t be a surprise, however, if Houston’s key decision-makers wind up with Will Levis atop their draft board. The Kentucky passer is built for the NFL game and checks numerous boxes with his size, mobility, arm strength, intelligence and competitive toughness.

Levis didn’t have the senior season many expected, with a new play caller and a subpar supporting cast compared to the previous year. Some evaluators will say those are excuses; others see it more as an explanation. Regardless, the traits — both physical and mental — are impressive and will lead several NFL teams to believe he is QB1 in this class.

Over the next 100 days Will Levis will be the most scrutinized player in the 2023 NFL Draft. Prepare accordingly.
