Back in February, John Wall ruptured his Achilles tendon and was given an expected recovery time of 12 months. Today, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis admitted he doesn’t think Wall will play at all in the 2019-20 season:

Achilles tendon injuries are notoriously tricky, especially for players like Wall who rely on speed and explosiveness. It took DeMarcus Cousins a year to return from his, but with Wall’s four-year $170 million supermax extension kicking in next season and the Wizards not looking like contenders, there is no need to rush him back. Leonsis said as much in a message to fans today.

“We are really taking care of John and are very, very proud of the way John has reacted to the rehab. He is a little bit ahead of schedule, but we have told John that your entire focus is to get well,” Leonsis said. “I know he’s up for that challenge. John can’t wait to come back and get on the court and show all of you, but we’ve told him, don’t rush. We want you to be 100% when you come back and not aggravate any injuries and he’s agreed to that.”

A few weeks ago, Wall showed off the progress he’s making on Instagram:

Something tells me this will do nothing to quiet all the trade rumors surrounding Wall and Bradley Beal.
