If you're craving professional basketball, you're in luck - the WNBA will begin its season several days before the NBA officially hits the court. The women's league released their new schedule Monday, and the first tip-off is slated for July 25. There are currently three games scheduled for that day: the Seattle Storm vs. the New York Liberty (noon ET), the Phoenix Mercury vs. the Los Angeles Sparks (3 p.m.) and the Washington Mystics vs. the Indiana Fever (5 p.m.). The league's opening weekend will be dedicated to the Black Lives Matter movement. The regular-season schedule will feature at least 64 nationally-televised games across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, CBS Television Network and the CBS Sports Network, so you shouldn't have a problem keeping basketball on your TV. WNBA action was originally supposed to begin on May 15, but the league was suspended due to coronavirus concerns. Now, all 12 teams are inside their own Florida "bubble" in order to play out a shortened, 22-game season. The league will play three games a day at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and Mondays will typically serve as off days. Throughout the shortened season, all players, coaches and staff will remain isolated on the IMG campus. No fans will be present at the game. https://twitter.com/WNBA/status/1282753208956395522 "This 2020 WNBA season will truly be one unlike any other, and we're looking forward to using our collective platform to highlight the tremendous athletes in the WNBA as well as their advocacy for social change," WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a statement. The regular season will conclude September. 12. The playoff format hasn't changed; the first and second rounds are single elimination, with five-game series for the semifinals and WNBA Finals. The complete 2020 regular-season schedule is available here, and the national telecast schedule is available here.
