Women's team struggles through 1st round, but moves on to face UNC

Most people did not expect Hampton to be much of a threat to Matthew Mitchell's squad last night, but UK almost found itself as the biggest upset loser on Day 1 of the women's tournament.  Despite a sluggish 40 minutes, the Cats found a way to survive and advance, slipping past Hampton 66-62 in overtime.  The star of the game was likely Keyla Snowden (what up girl?) who led the team with 19 points.  Also, Brittney Henderson, who is often overshadowed by All-American Victoria Dunlap, came up huge with 4 points in the OT period.  If you think this 1st round struggle signals bad news going forward in the tournament, remember that last season, Kentucky barely got past 13th seeded Liberty in the first round 83-77.  Maybe I am wrong, but I remember that team going pretty far in the tournament.  Now the Cats get North Carolina on Monday at 9:30 in New Mexico.  Let's get behind this team like we do the men because Mitchell has something brewing big and with huge fan support the pieces are there to make that program a national power.
