For the first time ever, the Kroger KSR Game of the Week will be in Shelby County to watch undefeated Woodford County take on the 6-1 Collins Titans.

Woodford County is coached by Dennis Johnson. The KHSAA Hall of Famer and former Kentucky Wildcat has a team that has been on a roll since the opening week. The Yellow Jackets ran the table a year ago before falling to South Warren in the 5A semifinal game. This year’s squad is averaging 47 points per game and giving up just 13. Quarterback Andrew Nason has thrown for 658 yards and 9 scores. He’s also rushed for 445 yards and scored 6 touchdowns on the ground. Preston Stacy has rushed for nearly 500 yards and 9 touchdowns.

The Yellow Jackets have two explosive pass catchers in Ball State commit Aden Nelson and rising star Makhi Smith. Both have caught five touchdown passes. Dayvion Stugis and Grant Garrison have combined for 89 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, and 8 quarterback sacks.

Collins sports a 6-1 record with its lone loss coming to Spencer County. Coach Jerry Lucas’ team is averaging 40 points per outing and surrendering 20. Star quarterback Kenyon Goodin has thrown for 1,208 yards and 15 touchdowns. He’s averaging 201 pass yards per contest. Goodin has been equally impressive in the run game after rushing for 735 yards and 12 scores. The signal-caller is one of the most dynamic players in the Commonwealth. Darius Evans is the Titans’ leading pass catcher with 36 receptions and 7 TDs. Joshua Lainhart is the team’s top tackler with 47.

This should be a good one that features two of 5A’s top teams.

Kroger is a staple in your hometown community just like high school football. There’s nothing quite like Friday nights in the Bluegrass. We are honored to share this journey with Kroger and you for the third consecutive season.
