Last night Xavier Rathan-Mayes committed to playing basketball for Leonard Hamilton's Florida State Seminoles. The 6'4'' Shooting Guard chose Florida State over UConn and Illinois. This information is relevant to Kentucky fans because he happens to be a teammate and close friend to #1 overall player in the 2014 class, Andrew Wiggins.
This essentially narrows Wiggins' college choices down to Florida State and Kentucky. It's still unsure whether this will sway Wiggins' decision to re-classify to 2013 or not. But, when Rathan-Mayes was asked if it would sway his decision one way or or the other he replied, "
Everyone thinks he's going to Kentucky, but he's not really focused on recruiting right now. I don't want to get into it too much with him because we're such good friends, but he knows I want him to come to Florida State."
