2023 Frisco (Tex.) Lone Star defensive back Jaylon Braxton added an LSU offer on last week, shaking up his recruitment. The Tigers are a “dream school” for him and are hosting him Tuesday for an unofficial visit.

ArkansasBaylorCalMichigan StateNebraskaOklahoma StatePenn State and TCU made up Braxton’s Top 8, but now LSU is in the mix, he told The Bengal Tiger.

“That’s my dream school,” Braxton told On3. “My favorite player ever went there, Tyrann Mathieu. He’s the one who made me fall in love with football so this one means a lot. It’s my dream school. Been watching them since I was little and they always put corners in the NFL.”

Cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples made a good impression on their call when LSU offered.

“He has been liking, me but he called me today. Let me know that they watched my film as a staff and everybody likes me. LSU will def be a top choice for me,” Braxton said. “I like him. He played in the NFL so I will really know it looks like.”

Braxton wanted to get to LSU ahead of a busy summer of visits and a commitment in July. He’s got official visits to Michigan State on June 3, Penn State on June 10 and Cal on June 24.

“Place that has a good culture. Somewhere I can compete as a freshman and somewhere I can win the Jim Thorpe Award,” Braxton said of what he’s looking for in a school.

LSU looking to catch Baylor for Jaylon Braxton

Braxton is the No. 276 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 27 cornerback and the No. 48 junior in Texas.

On3 is significantly higher on Jaylon Braxton than the other three recruiting services though, according to the Industry Comparison. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 157 prospect, No. 19 cornerback and No. 29 player in the Lone Star State.

The in-state Bears, one of just two Texas programs to make his Braxton’s final nine schools, are considered the leader by the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). It currently gives Baylor an 85.9 percent chance of securing his commitment. Michigan State (3.3%) and Penn State (2.8%) trail far behind.

Jaylon Braxton is a standout on the track as well, posting verified times of 10.83 (in the 100) and 21.92 (in the 200) as a junior. On the field, he was named Texas’ District 5-5A D-I Two-Way Player of the Year.
