LSU women’s basketball picked up a commitment from Aalyah Del Rosario, the No. 7 player in the class of 2023 according to the HoopGurlz recruiting rankings on Tuesday evening on Instagram Live. It’s another massive get for head coach Kim Mulkey as she pushes the Tigers towards the top of the country with an outstanding 2023 recruiting class.

Del Rosario is the No. 2 post player in the class and the No. 1 player over 6-foot-3, standing at 6-foot-5 out of The Webb School in Tennessee. The forward from the Dominican Republic visited LSU on the second weekend in September alongside two other current LSU commits and now intends on signing with LSU in the coming months.

Mulkey continues to be relentless on the recruiting trail. She already has one of the top 2023 classes in the country with the No. 2 ranked player in Mikaylah Williams,  the No. 44 player in Angelica Velez, and the No. 73 player in Janae Kent. Now, with the addition of Del Rosario, the Tigers are pushing for the No. 1 overall class by the time signing day comes around.

Velez and Del Rosario are currently teammates at The Webb School, and for Mulkey to get them both out of Tennessee could shift the landscape in the conference in coming years.

Last year, LSU was able to add top 25 talent Flau’Jae Johnson in addition to two talented forwards from Texas, but Mulkey always had her sights set on bringing in top talent. Getting Williams to commit was the first step, as one of the top players in the country was located in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Building for this season

For the immediate future, Mulkey also brought in one of the top transfer classes in the country featuring Maryland Forward Angel Reese, Missouri forward LaDazhia Williams, Ohio State guard Kateri Poole, West Virginia wing Jasmine Carson and Last-Tear Poa from the junior college ranks.

The women’s basketball program starts the year ranked No. 16 in the AP Poll coming off of a surprise season where the Tigers vaulted into the top 15 in Kim Mulkey’s first season before losing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Now, with Alexis Morris and Angel Reese leading the way, with a new cast of characters, the expectation is that this is only that beginning for LSU women’s basketball. With the way Mulkey is recruiting, there’s no telling what this program is capable of in the near future.
