WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

In today’s installment of our annual State of The U series, CaneSport starts breaking down the Miami recruiting classes that are part of the roster Mario Cristobal inherited and built … and that still has two players remaining on the roster – OL Ryan Rodriguez and LB Chase Smith.

And we continue our annual series breaking down the top 50 players on the current roster. As we go along on this list you’ll get an idea of the overall depth of talent on Mario Cristobal’s team this year as he seeks to build on a season that was oh-so-close to a playoff berth. We are at No. 20 today.

In recruiting? We had you covered with the two big commitments yesterday, including analysis of their play and your coach’s take.

We also preview the OV of Visalia (Calif.) Redwood top-150 flex tight end Israel Briggs, including why Miami very easily could be his landing spot in a two-team battle.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

“To be honest with you, it’s probably Miami and LSU fighting for it right now,” Briggs told CaneSport. “I think Miami knows that just me going on the visit (to LSU last weekend) gave them an advantage already, but I’ve already based one decision off of my emotions. That was to ASU. So this time, I’m going to really hear everything out like I’m doing with every other school.”
