More news for you?

There’s an analysis of the high-flying offense you won’t want to miss.

We have an Inside The Lines feature with Boynton Beach (Fla.) Palm Beach Central four-star wide receiver Waden Charles you don’t want to miss.

We have a recruiting update with Buford (Ga.) 2025 linebacker Mantrez Walker as well. He has received plenty of attention since the three-star prospect decommitted from Michigan Sept. 11, including from Miami.

Plus Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) The Benjamin School four-star 2025 EDGE Amaree Williams has now locked in a game day visit for the Hurricanes’ Oct. 21 home game against Clemson. So don’t miss his thoughts.

We also look at UM vs. FSU and Florida recruiting battles.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Thru 4 games my observations … Posted by HJ Cane

I’ll start by saying that we finally see a cohesive team on both sides of the ball playing in synch with each other

We see guys playing some very sound football

I see a staff working very well together

Areas they need to improve is everywhere just like every other team

Special teams / not special especially the punt return unit and I’m not impressed with the coverage units either / certainly an area for improvement

Kicker is doing well. Borregalas is money ( biting my tongue) His kick offs are deep and I think he only missed 1 FG which was over 50 yards ?

Pass rush could improve to my mind . It’s good but not great yet. Started to see pressure up the middle yesterday but it was Temple.

Secondary is better but keep working

Some of our pass defense packages have me scratching my head. I understand zone defense where a D-end drops back into a zone to confuse the QB but I have seen Kelly and another D-end yesterday having to cover a RB or TE down the field. Not really loving that.

Screen game on offense / we have setup the screen better this season then for many years especially with this much improved O-line talent who can get out there, but we aren’t hitting them yet. When we were winning championships we were dynamite at hitting these home run screen plays to our RB’s. I can see Clinton Portis in my mind right now. We need to improve these screens, we have the talent. TVD has missed a few of these short passes thru 4 games.

I think penalties are better than prior year. Always bad calls against us. ( nothing new)

Tough part of our schedule starts in 2 weeks. I’d like to see improvement in these areas. Special teams can really hurt a team in a big game we can do better.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Going into the game we knew we were going to have to run because of the weather. We thought there’d be rain, but it was more wind and drizzle. Offensive linemen want to run the ball a lot. We made sure the run would be first in our plan.”
