ANALYSIS: Michigan State unable to solve Duke's zone defense late, loses 66-60

AST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State’s unbeaten start to the season ended on Saturday, and so did the Spartans’ latest chance to get a victory over long-time nemesis Duke, at Breslin Center.  The No. 4-ranked Blue Devils came back from 34-31 halftime deficit to outlast No. 7 Michigan State, 66-60. Michigan State had a chance to cap a scintillating beginning to the season, and a rough four-game heavyweight gauntlet, by beating the Blue Devils in front of a revved-up, white-out crowd. And it looked like the Spartans were destined to add a Duke victory to wins over Arkansas, Kentucky and North Carolina when the Spartans led 45-40 with 12:53 left, on a 3-pointer by Jordan Scott.  But when Duke switched to a zone defense with 7:49 left and the Spartans up, 51-48, the game changed.
