Michigan State signees Booker and Fears named to 2023 McDonald's All-American Roster
The teams for the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Game were released on Tuesday. Two Michigan State men’s basketball signees were named to the event’s 46th annual rosters, which will take place March 28.
Xavier Booker and Jeremy Fears were both among the 24 players to receive an invite to the prestigious event.
The McDonald’s All-American Game’s roster is selected by a committee comprised of many well-respected high school basketball analysts, media members, coaches, and more.
Michigan State men’s basketball legend Magic Johnson headlined the event’s first ever game back in 1977. The duo are the first to represent Michigan State the game since Max Christie in 2021. It is also the first time that Michigan State had two players named to event since Miles Bridges and Josh Langford made the 2016 rosters.
Five-star C Xavier Booker – East Team
High School Recruiting Summary: Xavier Booker is a lengthy lefty who just moves in a way most his size does not. He has a lot of pop in his step and fluidity in his movements. While he is a more perimeter-based big right now, you see the ability to alter shots and the rim and rebound in traffic. He will need to get stronger and maybe pay more attention to the rebounding, but there is upside as a switchable type defender. Booker is a good spot shooter with consistent three-point range. He can push the break and has counters when he gets cut off, but he will need to work on not getting too deep with the ball. He runs the floor well. Strength will be a big thing, will help with his stamina. There is immense upside here.
Four-star PG Jeremy Fears – West Team
High School Recruiting Summary: Leadership is the takeaway from watching Jeremy Fears. He has a voice and whichever team he is on listens. Fears is a point of attack point guard. Quick-twitch guarding the ball, when he’s locked in he makes things tough at the point of attack. Fears will need to continue working on his reads. The jump shot is streaky, but he can knock down a mid-range jumper off the bounce. Fears has more explosion than he looks. Won a gold medal with u17 USA basketball this summer.
McDonald’s All-American Game Information
The 2023 McDonald’s All-American game will take place in Houston. Tickets for the event are available today at www.mcdonaldsallamerican.com.
The girl’s game will tip off at 6:30 PM on ESPN2, while the boys will tip off at 9:00 PM on ESPN.
