REACTION: Michigan State's angry Tom Izzo - 'We got fat and sassy at halftime'

EAST LANSING, Mich. - It seems that the second half of Michigan State’s victory over San Jose State on Thursday was maybe the fourth half of the Spartans’ big win over Arkansas during the weekend. And Tom Izzo didn’t like it. Izzo was pleased that his team defeated No. 14 Arkansas on Saturday, but is now working to wring and sense of casualness or over-confidence from his team, after seeing his Spartans lose a level intensity in an unsatisfying 79-60 victory over San Jose State at Breslin Center. Michigan State led by 23 at halftime. But San Jose State cut the lead to 10 on two occasions late in the game, with 5:40 to play, and again with 4:40 to play. “I was really looking forward to seeing how my team would respond with a little bit of success,” Izzo said. “And let’s get this straight, because I get sick of people acting like we have accomplished something because we win a game against a good team. Big deal. Big. Deal." (MORE inside SpartanMag. Join SpartanMag now - $1 for the first week - and enjoy a complimentary year of The Athletic included with your membership.)
