Michigan has found its quarterback of the future.
After a few bumps in the road over the last two cycles, the Wolverines finally pulled in a highly touted talent in 2024 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day signal-caller Jadyn Davis, the No. 4 quarterback and No. 26 overall recruit nationally.
Davis committed to Michigan following his visit this month. He picked the Wolverines over fellow finalists Clemson, North Carolina, Ohio State and Tennessee live on ESPN’s SportsCenter broadcast.
“All those guys (on Michigan’s staff) have been on NFL staffs — coaches in the NFL and played in the NFL,” Davis said. “Coach Harbaugh was a 14-year veteran. The quarterback position is the hardest position to play. If you haven’t played it, you don’t really know what it’s like, so it’s great to have Coach Harbaugh there. Michigan is a great school.”
In a surprising move, Michigan junior center Hunter Dickinson has decided to enter the transfer portal. Dickinson is the third Wolverine to leave the program, joining Jett Howard (NBA) and Isaiah Barnes (transfer) in the offseason.
Michigan hockey finally has its permanent head coach. A.D. Warde Manuel has taken the interim tag off Brandon Naurato and agreed to terms in principle to make him the full time coach.
Naurato replaced Mel Pearson last year after Pearson’s contract wasn’t renewed. Details of the five-year contract will be finalized and communicated after the Frozen Four, which begins next Thursday in Tampa, Fla. The Wolverines will face Quinnipiac after winning the Big Ten Tournament title and the Allentown region of the NCAA Tournament.
“I am thrilled that Brandon Naurato will continue to lead our ice hockey program, and it is with that knowledge that I am incredibly excited for the future of this storied program,” Michigan A.D. Manuel said. “Simply put, Brandon has done a phenomenal job with this team over the past year.
“In his first year as the Head Coach, Brandon has kept his focus on the success of our student-athletes and staff who support the program … and the results of his leadership are clearly evident. He leads with positivity and with vision and has demonstrated his capability to lead at a high level. I look forward to watching the program sustain great success under his leadership.”
Michigan head coach Juwan Howard released a statement on Dickinson’s departure.
