The Michigan Wolverines play for a Big Ten Tournament Championship on Sunday against the Wisconsin Badgers, but the squad will also learn its NCAA Tournament fate following the game. The selection committee could have its mind mostly made up by the time the game tips off, but a potential third-straight Quad 1 win for the Wolverines might alter its draw.

Heading into Sunday’s showdown with the Badgers, the Bracket Matrix has Michigan right on the edge of a 4/5 seed with 105 bracket projections submitted as of noon. Their average seed among the qualified prognosticators is a 4.66, which puts them as the top 5-seed in the projected field as far as the matrix is concerned. T-Rank also has Michigan back on the 4-line after Saturday’s win over Maryland.

Here is a final look at Michigan’s projected draw heading into the last day of games before the field of 68 is revealed.

Joe Lunardi, ESPN

Lunardi’s overnight projection has Michigan as a No. 4 seed in the West region, taking on No. 13 Akron, the MAC Champion and automatic qualifier. The game would take place in Denver with the winner taking on either BYU or the winner of a Xavier/Indiana play-in game. The top three seeds in the region are Florida, St. John’s and Texas Tech.

Jerry Palm, CBS Sports

Palm is extremely high on the Wolverines after this weekend, tabbing them as a No. 3 seed in the East region taking on No. 14 Robert Morris in the first round in Providence, Rhode Island. It would play either No. 6 Clemson or No. 11 VCU in the second round with a victory. The top two seeds in the region are Duke and Alabama, respectively.

James Fletcher, On3

Our in-house bracketologist has Michigan as a No. 4 seed in the East region, taking on No. 13 Grand Canyon in the first round. It would play either No. 5 Clemson or No. 12 Liberty with a victory. Duke, Alabama and Wisconsin are the top three seeds in the region.

USA Today

The trio of Paul Myerberg, Erick Smith and Eddie Timanus have Michigan playing in the West region as a No. 5 seed and starting out in Milwaukee against the winner of a San Diego State/Texas play-in game. It would play either No. 4 Iowa State or No. 13 High Point should it advance to the Round of 32. Florida, Michigan State and Texas Tech are the top three teams in the region.

Bill Bender, Sporting News

Bender has Michigan as a No. 4 seed heading into his final projection. He does not provide a projected field.

“Michigan’s seed continues to fluctuate after Tre Donaldson’s buzzer beater and an 81-80 victory against Maryland on Saturday,” Bender wrote. “The Wolverines also won 86-68 against Purdue in the Big Ten quarterfinals.  The Wolverines are 11-7 against Quad 1 and should stick on this line as a result.”
