Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders, alongside other notable guests, were seen at the PXG Detroit Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday.

Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) was founded in Sept. 2014 by businessman Bob Parsons in the hopes of making the world’s best golf equipment. With nearly eight years and over 200 global patents behind him, Parsons now has a full line of clubs and an international brand with retailers and distributors all across the globe. Now Michigan is officially a part of PXG’s continued growth at 2830 W. Maple Road.

PXG Detroit is the company’s first retail store in Michigan and one of 13 brick-and-mortar locations in the United States. This new 7,843 square-foot facility includes a showroom with PXG apparel, accessories, bags, golf club fitting bays, a putter fitting studio and practice putting green. PXG’s in-store experience also features a customer lounge area geared toward relaxation.

Sanders, one of the most dynamic players in NFL history, put countless fans in awe over the course of his legendary career with the Detroit Lions (1989-1998). Harbaugh can’t exclude himself from that list either. He saw the 10-time Pro Bowler’s explosiveness firsthand as quarterback for the Bears in 1992. Tied at 10 in the fourth quarter, Sanders embarrassed the entire Chicago defense on his way to a 43-yard rushing touchdown and the late advantage.

“I watched the whole play,” Harbaugh recalled last October (via 97.1 The Ticket). “It was at least nine tacklers, maybe ten, got their hands on him, and he was spinning and spun out of three guys who had him all at once. I mean, triangulated. Six hands were on him, and I saw him spin and duck out of that. That was the most amazing run I’ve ever seen.”

Harbaugh did ultimately enact his revenge with a last-second touchdown pass to Tom Waddle that gave the Bears a 27-24 win in the season opener.

Meanwhile, Sanders would end his professional career with a legacy more than worth his No. 20 jersey never being worn in Detroit again. He was an NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (1989), NFL Most Valuable Player (1997), six-time First-Team All-Pro, four-time NFL rushing yards leader and a member of the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.

We’ve seen both Harbaugh and Sanders show off their golf game over the years, but who do you think would come out on top in a match between the two football savants?
